Burt Reynolds’ Ex-Wife Confirmed Rumors About His Secret Note From Princess Diana
There’s been a longstanding Hollywood rumor that connects two superstars of the ’90s. One is actor Burt Reynolds… and the other is none other than Princess Diana. Reynolds claimed in his memoir that Diana had once sent him an important note. But it was never confirmed by a secondary source – until now! So, what exactly made the princess reach out?
It was actually Burt’s ex-wife Loni Anderson who confirmed the rumor. In 2021 she appeared on the TV show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and was asked about it by a fan. She did, however, give a rather short and perhaps quite curt answer – a simple, “Yes, that’s true.”
Though in fairness to Loni, the Diana story did hark back to an unpleasant period in her own life. She’d met Burt on the set of 1983’s Stroker Ace and married him in a spectacular, very expensive ceremony five years later. Yet it wasn’t long before the marriage drastically fell apart.
Burt and Loni had a positively “fairytale” wedding. Comparisons to the nuptials of Diana and Prince Charles would have been fair – and of course, even more so a few years down the line. When questioned by the press about her big day, Loni said she had felt like Cinderella.
Naturally, the Loni-Burt wedding grabbed the headlines, but the divorce did so even more. It was the sort of thing that would have trended on Twitter every day if social media had been around back then. It began in 1993 when a rep for the couple announced that the marriage was “irretrievably broken.”
