This Is What 40 Of Your Favorite Actors Looked Like In Their First Ever Movie Roles

Have you ever been watching a movie and thought to yourself, “Wait…that minor character looks like a younger version of that really famous actor! Is it really them?” Well yes, it could be! Because even huge stars have to start somewhere. So, here are the very first movie roles of 40 of the biggest names in showbiz. They’re mostly pretty small parts… but as the saying goes, there are no small parts, only small actors.

40. Amy Adams

Before Amy Adams found mainstream success with Disney’s Enchanted, she was bubbly blonde Leslie Miller in 1999 cult comedy Drop Dead Gorgeous. In 2013 the actress joked to the Cinema Blend website that maybe her character Leslie had grown up, changed her name and become Adams’ American Hustle character Sydney.

39. Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts is one of the biggest movie stars in the business, but she had to work her way up just like everyone else. So what was her first-ever credited film role? A 21-year-old Roberts played young rocker Daryle in 1988’s Satisfaction, which also starred Liam Neeson. The flick wasn’t very well received, and it’s more or less forgotten about now. But it’s definitely worth a look if you want to see Roberts rocking away on a guitar!

38. Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp’s first film role was memorable to say the least. He had a part in 1984’s A Nightmare on Elm Street as Glen: the teenager gruesomely killed by Freddy Krueger in his sleep. Interestingly, he didn’t even set out to be in the movie. He was accompanying his friend Jackie Earle Haley to an audition when the filmmakers noticed him. And we bet they’re glad they did.

37. Kerry Washington

Long before her Scandal days, a young Kerry Washington made her film debut in 2000’s Our Song. It follows Lanisha – played by Washington – and her three best friends, who are all members of their local marching band. Despite the movie not being massively well known now, critics raved about it when it first came out. And it has an impressive 91 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
